Message From the Director

Hello my name is Duli Agarwal.  I am a Board member and Director of the DC Immunization Welfare Center doing business as Children Immunization Foundation (CIF). Therefore, we use Children Immunization Foundation (CIF) in our all activities. Let me start with why we started the CIF?  Hepatitis B is a major public health problem in India; this life-threatening crisis will continue until vaccination programs and other control measures are established. The average estimated carrier rate of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in India is 4 percent with a total pool of approximately 40 million carriers. Social, economic, and health factors in different regions contribute to variations in carrier rates from one part of the country to another. Most of India's carrier pool is established in early childhood, predominantly by horizontal spread due to crowded living conditions and poor hygiene. 240000 deaths annually occur due to complications from Hepatitis “B.”

I came from a small town located in Bihar, India to USA in 1980.  People, who have read about Bihar or go to Bihar, know that Bihar is one of the poorest states in India where more than half of the population make $ 2.00 a day or less and illiterate in practical way. I was always thinking how I can help to poor and needy children who are future of the country.  In 2003, with the help of US Department of Energy employees, we founded a tax-exempt charitable organization known as DC Immunization Welfare Center and now doing business as Children Immunization Foundation (CIF).  The CIF vision is “Vaccinate the Children, Save the Future” and saving Children from deadly diseases.  Specially, children who live in rural parts of India and can not afford required vaccinations.

Consider to donate only $ 15.00.  For $15, you can vaccinate a child against Hepatitis B (all three doses) and can prevent a child from deadly disease Hepatitis “B.  Your donation also helps child's family to educate to improve the health of the whole household. The CIF always looking for sponsors.  Visit our website for how to sponsor a child or school.  If we can raise $20,000, the per dose cost of the vaccination will 20 percent and will help to protect more children.

If you are a federal employee, the CIF is listed under the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) # 11567, DC Immunization Welfare Center dba Children Immunization Foundation).  The CIF is one of many International Independent organizations which are eligible to receive donations under CFC.  The CIF is recognized as one of the “Best” charities in America by the Independent Charities of America.  The CIF is also member of Children’s Medical & Research Charities.

On behalf of the CIF, I would like to thank all of you in advance for your continued support.  Your gift will provide a bright future for kids in rural India.  We are also IRS Tax exempt organization, and registered in Maryland USA. Thank you.
